In the Cerita Sambil MendiDik (CerDik) programmes, we educate students to not only to express their thoughts but also to think critically.
We use the concept of 5W and 1H for the students to be curious and increase their confidence by asking as many questions as possible. This way, they can increase their skills and knowledge by being brave.
In our research, we find some students were afraid to ask questions as they felt that they were not smart, their questions may be stupid questions, etc. This is where they develop self-doubt and low self-esteem.
It is our role as educators to assure and guide them to overcome their fears in a nurturing environment so that they know that they can achieve their greatness with feeling small and unworthy.
